4 Days / 3 Nights – Faith, History, and Heritage
Step into the heart of Cappadocia on a spiritual journey through the land where faith, history, and culture intertwine. This 4-day Orthodox pilgrimage invites you to explore the ancient Christian heritage of the region — from rock-hewn churches and Byzantine frescoes to the birthplace of revered saints such as Saint Paisios and Saint Arsenios.
You will walk through biblical landscapes, visit holy sites carved into the volcanic hills, and reconnect with stories of faith preserved for centuries. Each day is thoughtfully designed to blend spiritual reflection with cultural discovery, offering a deep connection to the roots of Orthodoxy in Asia Minor.
Led by experienced guides and rooted in authenticity, this pilgrimage is ideal for individuals, families, or church groups seeking to experience Cappadocia not just as tourists — but as pilgrims.
Day 1
Arrival by plane at Kayseri or Nevşehir airport. Transfer and check-in at the hotel. In the evening, we recommend dinner at a traditional local restaurant.
Day 2
After breakfast, we begin our day with a visit to the Göreme Open-Air Museum, known for its rock-carved churches and remarkable Early Christian frescoes (10th–13th centuries). We then continue to Paşabağ to admire the impressive fairy chimneys, followed by the abandoned village of Zelve.
Next, we explore the Devrent Valley (also known as the Valley of Imagination) and head toward Avanos, where we cross the Kızılırmak River via the suspension bridge and visit a traditional pottery workshop. Return to the hotel.
Day 3
A day dedicated to Farasa. On the way, we pass through the village of Güzelöz, traditionally believed to be the birthplace of Saint George. We will visit the Church of Saint George and continue toward Farasa — the birthplace of two great Orthodox saints: Saint Arsenios and Saint Paisios.
We will walk through the village, see the old church (which was converted into a mosque after the population exchange), and visit a Roman-era tower. Return to the hotel.
Day 4
We begin with a visit to the underground city of Kaymaklı (2nd millennium BC). Then we head to the Ihlara Gorge, where we’ll enjoy a scenic walk of approximately two hours, visiting two rock-cut churches with beautiful frescoes along the way.
After the gorge, we pass through Old Güzelyurt (Karvali) to see the church dedicated to Saint Gregory of Nazianzus.
Finally, we visit Sinasos (Mustafapaşa), a historic Greek town known for its elegant mansions and the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen. Transfer to the airport.
Seeing the village where Saint Paisios was born was an emotional moment I will never forget. The trip was smooth, the accommodation charming, and the pace just right. Highly recommended for anyone seeking something deeper than tourism.
