Tour Itinerary
- Göreme Panorama: The First Look We begin with a stop at a stunning viewpoint overlooking the town of Göreme. This is the perfect place to see the unique "pigeon houses" carved into the cliffs and understand the geography that allowed early civilizations to thrive in this volcanic landscape.
- Kaymaklı Underground City: A Subterranean Marvel Descend into one of the widest and most fascinating underground settlements in the world. As a folklore expert, I (or your guide) will explain how thousands of people lived here for months at a time—complete with stables, churches, storage rooms, and wine cellars—all hidden beneath the surface to escape invaders.
- Ihlara Valley: Nature’s Sanctuary Enjoy a relaxed 4km hike along the Melendiz River inside this 100-meter-deep canyon. The valley is home to hundreds of rock-cut churches with unique frescoes. Unlike the dry landscape above, the valley floor is a lush green oasis filled with the sound of running water and birds.
- Belisırma Village: Lunch by the River Halfway through our hike, we stop at the traditional village of Belisırma. You can enjoy a local lunch at a restaurant set directly over the river, providing a perfect moment of rest in nature.
- Selime Monastery: The Cathedral in the Rock At the end of the valley, we visit the largest rock-cut religious structure in Cappadocia. This massive complex includes a cathedral-sized church, a kitchen, and stables. Its scale and the complexity of its carving are a testament to the engineering skills of the early Christians.
- Pigeon Valley & Onyx Workshop Our final stop overlooks Pigeon Valley, named for the thousands of pigeon houses carved into the white cliffs. We will also visit a local workshop to see how the famous Turkish Onyx and Zultanite stones are shaped by hand.
