Airport and transfer to Uçhisar. En route, we will make a stop at Pigeon Valley to enjoy the panoramic view. Afterwards, check-in at the hotel and time for rest.
After breakfast, we begin our tour at the Göreme Open Air Museum, where we will explore rock-cut churches featuring significant Early Christian elements and unique frescoes dating from the 10th to the 13th century. Next, we head to Pasabağ to admire Cappadocia's most impressive geological formations, known as "Fairy Chimneys." This is followed by a visit to the abandoned village of Zelve, which preserves rock-cut houses, churches, and a mosque.
We then visit Devrent Valley (or Imagination Valley), famous for its peculiar rock formations that resemble various objects and animals. An optional lunch is suggested at a local restaurant in Sinasos (modern-day Mustafapaşa), an old Greek village with grand mansions and the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen. After lunch, we will visit the church and some of the historic mansions. Our next stop is Avanos, built on the banks of the Halys River (Kızılırmak), where we will visit a pottery workshop. The program also includes a visit to a volcanic stone jewelry workshop, where we will learn about the semi-precious stones of the region. Return to the hotel.
After breakfast, we depart for the underground city of Malakopi (modern-day Derinkuyu, meaning "deep well"). We then head towards the Ihlara Valley, a unique natural landscape and an ancient center of monastic life dating back to the 4th century. The route through the canyon takes approximately 2 hours, including visits to two churches with rare frescoes. An optional lunch will be available inside the canyon, where you can taste the local "gözleme" pastry.
Next, we visit Old Karvali, known today as Güzelyurt ("beautiful homeland"), where we will visit the Church of St. Gregory of Nazianzus. Following this, we visit the Red Church (Kızıl Kilise), which has stood remarkably intact since the 6th century. Return to the hotel for dinner.
After breakfast, we depart for Niğde. On our way, we will stop at the ancient Christian settlement of Andavali to see the ruins of the 5th-century Church of Constantine and Helen.
Next, we will have a guided tour of the Gümüşler Monastery, carved into the rock, which houses the world's only fresco of the "Smiling Virgin Mary." We then visit the Greek-speaking refugee village of Yeşilburç, where we will taste traditional dishes prepared by the village's women’s cooperative. The day concludes with a visit to the Seljuk-era Alaeddin Mosque and the city’s archaeological museum. Return to the hotel.
After breakfast and check-out, we begin our tour of Kayseri. We will visit the Museum of Seljuk Civilization, the Kurşunlu Mosque—an architectural masterpiece by the renowned architect Sinan—and the İç Kale (Inner Castle). This is followed by a walk and food tasting in the old Armenian quarter.
Next, we visit Kültepe (Kanesh), the first commercial center of Asia Minor. This archaeological site is where thousands of Assyrian cuneiform tablets were discovered, providing invaluable information about life around 2000 BC. Finally, transfer to the airport for departure.
